This project was developed during my time at Oxford Printing Company and centers on Tutor Memorial Funeral Home, my family’s business in Pontotoc, Mississippi. The funeral home has been family owned and operated since 1999, with Baldwyn Memorial Funeral Home added under our ownership in 2015.
While I was at Oxford Printing, my father mentioned he needed new business cards and challenged me to create a logomark to replace the unbranded cards he had used previously. This request became an opportunity to revisit a larger, long-term conversation about rebranding the family business.
In earlier discussions, we had consistently returned to one potential motif for the brandmark. We agreed that a Tudor Rose could serve as a meaningful reference to the family name while remaining appropriate for a funeral service provider. I was tasked with executing this concept in a refined and respectful way.
After further consultation, we selected a color palette of burgundy, gold, and cream, inspired by the furniture and interior elements of Tutor Memorial Funeral Home.
This branding update provides a more elevated and cohesive visual identity for Tutor Memorial Funeral Home and establishes a recognizable brand presence where none had previously existed.
